1. Describe what you need

2. Compare your shortlist and prepare calls

Save up to 12 businesses from directory search or profiles. Appointments here are only times you enter after arranging them yourself.

Questions for this project

You choose recipients and send messages yourself. The directory never broadcasts your project.

    3. Understand proposals and options

Your proposal worksheet, cooling assumptions, and maintenance plan share this workspace.

    Repair and replacement scenarios

Use actual written quotes and editable assumptions. Age and previous repair spending are context, not a universal replacement rule. No recommendation, diagnosis, or guaranteed remaining life is produced.

Enter both quotes, comparison years and all cost assumptions (use zero explicitly where appropriate).

Scenario arithmetic: quote + future repair allowance + years × (annual operating + maintenance). Prior repair spending is already incurred and is not counted again. Financing, inflation, incentives, later replacement costs, and uncertain equipment life are excluded; record those separately before deciding. See the cooling calculator for a transparent cooling-only estimate.

    Heat pump site-visit readiness

Prepare questions and accessible records; let qualified professionals assess equipment sizing, electrical capacity and site suitability on site.

    4. Check permits, licensing, and incentives before committing

Start with the Michigan state guidance and DTE program directory linked below. Choose the actual project jurisdiction and utility; a ZIP alone does not establish the enforcing agency or utility. For another jurisdiction or utility, record the official sources and details you confirm in the checklist below.

IRS Energy Efficient Home Improvement Credit: the IRS limits this credit to qualifying improvements through December 31, 2025. This workspace does not subtract that credit from a 2026 installation. Status: official guidance verified October 11, 2026; your tax circumstances unreviewed.

    5. Collect installation handover records

Use the signed proposal to decide which records were promised. Mark each received, missing, or not applicable and record why. A completed checklist does not certify installation safety or workmanship.
